I am now currently home-schooling four of our six children. Bradford, our oldest, is (8), and he is in the third grade. Makaylee (7), is in the second grade. Weston (6), is in the first grade, and Kyrah (4), is doing K4. Of course I am teaching and training our two youngest - Garret (3) and Jackson - almost (2) -as well, but just not in a classroom setting with curriculum. It is definitely a full-time job and keeps me quite busy, but it is also very rewarding as well. This year is going very well and the older children are able to be apart of a school co-op once a week, which is very helpful for me. It gives me some more time with the younger ones and I am also doing some respite care for my sister-in-law on that day as well.
Our goal as a family is to start our day in God's Word each morning-trying to instill in their young hearts the importance of reading the Bible each day. It can be quite a challenge at times, but definitely worth the effort. We have started this little quote as a family- "No B, no b"- meaning "No Bible, no breakfast!" Of course the kids love this catchy little phrase and it helps remind them as well. If we get an early start and all goes well, meaning no interruptions, which can include- the ten phone calls you might receive, the falls and boo-boos and how many kisses to make it all better, and whatever else might just happen to come up- we can most days finish our schooling by noontime. Of course there are those days that seem to take forever and we can find ourselves still working on a project 'till way into the evening hours. But of course that is one of the many blessings that comes with home-schooling, is being able to have a flexible schedule.
This year-like any other- has definitely had its challenging times, but I am very thankful and blessed to be able to have a part in teaching my children, and what blessing and joy it can bring!
You are a busy lady! I do "preschool" with all 3 boys, and it's hard enough :) Will be praying for you! (And I like the "No B, no b") LOL
