Brad cut and planed all of the pine boards in our basement. We have a lot of memories working in here. After he put all the boards up, we sanded and polyurethaned them several times. (Not professionally done, but they turned out pretty nice. :) The all black refrigerator wasn't my first choice, but we were able to purchase it brand new for half the price because of a few dents in it. We were able to get almost all of our appliances at a scratch and dent place in CT. It actually ended up looking nice with the rest of the appliances, and we love the freezer on the bottom. :)
Another view.
The kids and I made the pine cone wreath above the sink. Brad built these cabinets. (I love the dishwasher!)
Pantry doors that he made as well. I love this pantry! (It still needs some more shelving and finish work done. I will post pics of the inside when we finish this project.)
More cabinets that Brad built. They are solid, not the cheap laminate kind. They should hold up to our kids. (We are hoping :)
Instead of putting countertop in on either side of the stove, we opted to put in some tile. Brad made these tile countertops, and they work very well for hot dishes. (No need for a hot pad. )
We still need to finish some small projects in the kitchen. Brad is going to put in a couple of shelves next to the convection oven. We also need to finish trimming the top cabinets. Brad made all of the bottom cabinets, but we purchased the top cabinets on clearance and finished them. They don't match perfectly, but they work well.
Notice the roses? Brad still gets me flowers. :)
This great big bay window was given to us. It is great for letting in the sunlight and keeping plants on it.
It looks great! It's hard to imagine that it's a basement!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is basically a house with a flat roof. :) We have everything we need right now, but are quickly outgrowing it and in need of more space.
ReplyDeleteLoved the detailed tour, Alisia. How special it is to have all these memories of building your home together.
