Funny Sayings

I think I could write a book about all of my kid's "funny sayings." I decided to write them down as I heard them so I would not forget them. (Especially the ones that made Brad and I laugh.) I will share some of them with you. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as we did.

When our oldest son, Bradford (8),was just two years old he asked us why the stars were winking at us. And one day while peeling potatoes he piped up and asked me, "Mama why are those potatoes all naked?" After telling him that we needed to save the orange juice for breakfast one afternoon, and then offering him some water, he quickly replied, " We need to save the water for dinner!" :)

Our second oldest, Makaylee (7) , made us laugh one evening when we told her that she needed to change her attitude. Only three years old and not quite understanding what we meant she answered with a very puzzled look, "But I just changed into my P. Js." One afternoon, after spanking her and laying her down for her nap, she accidently rolled onto her dolly that laughed when you pressed her tummy. She then picked her up, looked her in the face and firmly told her "It is not funny!"  One day, after being asked how many babies her mommy had, she replied, "Five and Daddy is her big baby!"(We only had four at the time.) We got a chuckle out of this.

Weston (6), our third child, makes us laugh non-stop all the time. But some of his funnier ones include the time when he told the librarian that I almost died having his sister,Makaylee - don't know where he came up with that one and the time he informed us all that Grandpa could only take short showers and not long ones. ( Due to the fact that they only have a shower stall and not a full bathtub like ours.)  He is a very impressionable child, that has quite the imagination and you never know what he is going to say. Quite often I find myself asking him "Weston is this a story?" and he just looks at me and grins :)

Kyrah (4) is, as daddy would say, "Just like her mother!" And don't I know it.  As grandma would say she is like the little girl in the poem- "Once there was a girl with a little curl right in the middle of her forehead and when she was good she was very, very good, but when she was not she was horrid!" Oh what my mom must have put up with me- how did she ever do it? She is such a sweet girl, except when she is not :)  And anyway to put it bluntly she can definitely try my patience at times. And mom tells me "She is just like you." One night she tried to fit at least twenty dollies in her crib. After trying to reason with her for a little while, telling her that twenty dollies were way too many. Daddy comes in grinning and says to me "Well mama you have a lot of babies. Do you want to do away with any of them?" I got his point but what to do about all of her dollies?  She is constantly playing with her dolls and kitchen set. I think that one day she will be quite the little homemaker. One night while trying to say her prayers and dealing with her little cold, she told me, ("Mama I can't say my prayers, cause my throat is in the way!")

Garret (3), who is just like his daddy, made us laugh one day when he said "Me daddy," and then changed his voice deeper and said "Hey boy!" just like his daddy does. After putting way too much toilet paper in the toilet and flooding the bathroom the other day, he looks up at me with his serious little look and asks me, "Me naughty mama?" At the time not very funny, but later chuckled at his mishap.

Jackson, who will soon be two, keeps us quite entertained with his little antics, but not quite talking in sentences yet. Hard to believe how fast they grow and how time goes by way too quickly. We are looking forward to our newest addition in six weeks.

  1. A blog is a GREAT way to keep a journal of the cute amusing things our kids do. Over a year ago, my husband gave me the gift of turning my blog into a printed book for me to have and cherish. In another year or so, we'll print it again and add another volume!

The blog is looking great Alisia!
