"B" is for Butterfly Week

We started this week off with an exciting field trip to Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory. What a beautiful place to visit! The butterflies were gorgeous. It was great for the children to be able to enjoy them and study the different kinds of butterflies up close. We all had a wonderful time enjoying God's beautiful creations with family and friends. We all enjoyed an outside picnic together and for snack time we brought along Brownies, Blueberry Muffins and Bananas to go along with our theme letter. At home the children each wrote about their trip to Magic Wings. I believe that the vote is unanimous, and they all want to go again someday. This week the children enjoyed learning and studying about their favorite kind of Butterfly and did a drawing of it. They also enjoyed finger painting some beautiful Butterflies. The children had a great time making some Beaded Bracelets for crafts this week. We also did a study on Birds as well. We read about the many different kinds of Birds and the children had a great time making some Bird feeders and Bird houses. We started putting together some Bird Books as well. They worked on their flower books and their alphabet books too. We also did a lot of reading. We read about James Buchanan and the older children gave an oral report on him. We also enjoyed making some different Breads, as well as Banana and Blueberry pie. We talked about Building things this week. And to get tin the theme of things, the older children helped us with Building the log cabin, while the younger children built forts and Built things with their legos. We did some Bike riding, and not to forget Bible time. What a fun week this was!
